Welcome to Hostel Valhalla at the heart of the Andes mountains directly between the volcanoes Cotopaxi and The Illinizas. At 3,500 meters, Hosel Valhalla is the best acclimatisation hostel in Ecuador with fantastic views including 16 peaks of over 4,000 meters and yet is easily reached, just jump of the bus and walk into the site from the Pan-American highway.
There are great trekking availabilities around the area..

Hotel Valhalla is owned and operated by Moggely. Mogge, a Swedish viking and Ely searched for and found the perfect parcel of land nestled within Ecuador's "Avenue of the Volcanoes" and built Hotel Valhalla on the 3.65 Ha plot in 2004. Thanks to family contacts in and around Machachi, the number one mountain town in Ecuador, we are on very good terms with the local landowners. We will always try to make you feel like a family member and are always ready to help with any problems or questions you might have.
GETTING THERE
The hostel is eight minutes south of the Machachi Road toll and four minutes drive in from Pan-American highway.
From Quito - Take a bus south on the Pan-American highway from Terminal Terrestre.
There will be buses going every 3 minutes, Its a bit more then one hour to Machachi. Just after Machachi there is a road
toll - Pay the fee and continue South. After a couple of minutes you pass the entrance to Chaupi and The Illinizas.
100m after this entrance you will pass a bridge and the road will head uphill for about six minutes. The road then flattens out.
There is a 1.5 x 2m VALHALLA sign "Yellow" on the left side which is impossible to miss in day time. Walk in from the sign, through the gate and down the dirt road, it should take you approximately 20 minutes in total to reach the hostel. After 10 minutes you come to a fork in the road, you should be able to see the hostel from just before the fork. Take the right-hand fork, you can easily see the hostel from here.
NO tours can be arranged from Valhalla... You first have to come to the AGENCY in QUITO..
Here you arrange all the Tours - Payment, Equipment & Signing of the contracts Etc etc..
After this you go down to Valhalla for acclimatization & lodging / Resting between the tours..

We have enjoyed operating Hostel Valhalla but due to unforeseen factors we have reluctantly
decided to sell.
Valhalla has a full capacity of around 45 people. We believe it's a very good price, we will listen
to offers after high season, but are not prepared to lower the price too much. Whoever buys it can calculate what
ANDEAN TURTLE will guarantee to send all there clients through Valhalla for 10 years. This alone guaranties a good income.

When you go to Valhalla its for relaxing & aclimatization and beautiful vias. The hostal is so high what bad weather sometimes reduce as to have electricity. This is why the hostel is working with gas for Kitchen & Showers etc.
