Horseback Riding tours in Ecuador
North of Quito is located the 4000 year dormant volcano of Pululahua. Its geographical position, mild climate, the beauty of the surrounding countryside, and wide biological diversity make this a fantastic trip for everyone.
You have the opportunity to discover this exciting landscape on horseback, right into the furthest corners of the crater, passing by deep gorges, rushing mountain streams yielding warm volcanic springs, eroded lahar fields blooming with wild orchids, deserted chalk mines and tropical mountain forests. On horseback you can visit remote places inaccessable by any other form of transport.
In addition to horseback riding around Pululahua, we also have a day of riding near Papallacta. This is a very interesting combination ride and trek with a visit to Campana Machay Cave. Tours leave at 8.00 in the morning and ride through the páramo toward Antisana along the way we encounter a natural hot spring (too small to sit in). After some hours of riding we dismount and walk uphill to the cave and take a break. After our rest and eating, we return down the valley.
